Here we go again. The Legislature increases government revenue - a.k.a MORE TAXES - and tried to tell you that you are getting a bargain! So the folks pay more, so the out of touch elected officials can spend more.
Once again, many will be surprised that this new form of making Georgians Wallet Deficient comes not from the Tax and Spend Democrats but the Revenue Neutral (a.k.a Tax) and Spend Republicans.

Can Marijuana Help Rescue California's Economy?
Could marijuana be the answer to the economic misery facing California? Democratic state assemblyman Tom Ammiano thinks so. Ammiano introduced legislation last month that would legalize pot and allow the state to regulate and tax its sale - a move that could mean billions of dollars for the cash-strapped state. Pot is, after all, California's biggest cash crop, responsible for $14 billion a year in sales, dwarfing the state's second largest agricultural commodity - milk and cream - which brings in $7.3 billion a year, according to the most recent USDA statistics.

President-elect Barack Obama has started warning that getting the country out of its current economic hole may mean trillion-dollar deficits for years to come -- but Rep. Ron Paul has very different ideas.
"I think it's just more of the same," the former presidential candidate told CNN's John Roberts on Wednesday. "I don't think it'll solve the problems. It's turning the spending responsibility over to government rather than individuals, and that's not the way you make an economy work."
"To me it's a philosophic problem," Paul insisted. "Why are we spending all this money? ... We cannot solve our problem by doing exactly the same thing that got us into this mess."
Tragically, over the Thanksgiving holiday, the world was reminded how evil and cruel people can be. According to emerging accounts of the events in India, about a dozen well-armed and devastatingly well-trained terrorists laid siege on the city of Mumbai, killing almost two hundred people, and terrorizing thousands.
Regardless of the reasons, the indiscriminate shooting on masses of unarmed and defenseless people is chilling and reprehensible. How were these terrorists able to continue so long, relatively unchallenged, killing so many?
Time and again over the years, I have heard patriots enumerate our strengths: we, the true American people of all kinds, vastly outnumber the relatively few totalitarian Socialist conspirators at the top; we are armed to the eyeballs; we have the U.S. Constitution, we are more educated about the threat to all this than any other people. Time and again, I have heard these same patriots wonder why, then, we are losing.
We are losing. Despite our best efforts, the present usurper in the Oval Office is an illegal alien Communist. The Congress, our economy, our media and all our other institutions are firmly in the hands of the Conspiracy for World Government.

By the late 1790s slaves were "regarded as status symbols" by the wealthiest New York families.
